HOTSPUR FAIL TO ‘SHINE’ AT ‘GLOBE WAY’
By BARRY ROBERTS
Buckley Town v Holyhead Hotspur Saturday 2 nd March 2019
Holyhead Hotspur’s dreadful league season continued unabated and
disappointingly against Flintshire opponents Buckley Town as Darren Garmey’s
men were undone in a display which had been all too familiar this season with
plenty of effort and commitment but not enough quality and lacking a cutting
Confidence is another factor which does not improve with the lack of success,
however a good result against Rhyl at the New Stadium on this coming Friday 8 th
March kick off 7.30pm would do a power of good for the rest of the campaign and
with the final of the Huws Gray League Cup against Airbus UK Broughton coming
up on Easter Saturday 20 th April.
A goal in each half ofg the match at the Buck’s Globe Way ground by Chris
Roberts and Keiron Moore separated the two teams however Hotspur can feel
aggrieved that they had two goals disallowed for offside and once again put up a
Nip and tuck start with Hotspur settling down well and putting ressure on the
Buckley goal. Chris Roberts had a goal disallowed for offside but the hosts went
ahead a little later when a corner from the left found Chris Roberts who was
quickest to react in the box and slotted home their first goal on the half hour.
They went close again just after but Hotspur were battling hrd to get in the match
especially in mid field but without anything to show for it Half Time 1 – 0
Hotspur giving as good as they got and John Littlemore did well to win possession
setting up Mel Mc Ginniss who put the ball home but was ruled off side. Just after
Mel Mc Ginniss had a great strike on goal but the ball just went over the bar.
Buckley were pushing for a second and Carl Jones made a great save with his knee
while at the other end forced a save from Buck’s keeper Joe Makarok.
Half way through the second half Hotspur lost possession in a dangerous area and
Keiron Moore made the Holy Islanders pay by firing past Carl Jones.
Hotspur plugging away and never giving up but not much luck either.
